LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight to be Released Without Online Co-op
However, the new project from TT Games will be released with an important limitation that may disappoint part of the audience. This is the developer's first game in four years and the fourth main installment in the series, but it has been officially confirmed that there will be no online co-op.
Players who want to go through adventures in Gotham together will only be able to count on the local "couch" mode — a continuation of the studio's controversial tradition.
At the same time, the game will offer a number of changes in the technical part and mechanics. For the first time in the history of LEGO games, the TT Games project is being created on Unreal Engine 5, abandoning its own tools. The approach to characters has also changed: instead of hundreds of heroes, players will have access to only seven characters. The combat system is inspired by the Batman: Arkham series and is designed for dynamic, smooth battles adapted for a young audience.
The developers have also almost completely abandoned the constant internet connection. Online is only needed to download updates; subscriptions like PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass are not required. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does not contain microtransactions, allowing you to get all the content without additional costs.
The release is scheduled for May 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
