Forgotten Sonic franchise characters may appear in Sonic CrossWorlds - developers hint at new DLC
The creators of the racing arcade game would like to unite all eras of Sonic in one game.
Sega is preparing new additions for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that may be of interest not only to fans of modern games in the series, but also to those who are nostalgic for the early incarnations of the blue hedgehog universe.
Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka said that the developers are considering adding characters from old animated series, comics, and forgotten spin-offs to the game. According to him, the team wants Sonic CrossWorlds to "represent all eras of the franchise."
Iizuka did not name specific dates or plans, emphasizing that the appearance of individual characters does not always depend solely on the wishes of the developers. Previously, collaborative heroes have already appeared in the game, including Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5, Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon, as well as characters from NiGHTS into Dreams, Pac-Man, Minecraft, and even SpongeBob.
According to Iizuka, more crossovers were planned at the start, but not all potential partners agreed to join the project. He noted that such collaborations require time and serious coordination, while emphasizing that the team remains open to further cooperation.
