Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Sequel to Improve Queen's Blood Card Game and Bring Back Snowboarding
Developers noted high player interest in one of the mini-games.
In an interview with Polygon, game director of the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remakes, Naoki Hamaguchi, said that the Queen’s Blood card mini-game will not only return in the third installment, but will also be significantly expanded.
«Queen’s Blood is a very popular and beloved mini-game, and I think many players still want something like it. I want to expand Queen’s Blood, improve it, and present a more powerful version in the third part».
Queen’s Blood is a collectible strategic card game that first appeared in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. After the game’s release in February 2024 on PlayStation 5, interest in the mini-game turned out to be so high that players repeatedly called on Square Enix to turn it into a standalone project. Hamaguchi did not disclose details, but his comments make it clear that Queen’s Blood will become one step closer to the "game within a game" format.
In addition, the game director confirmed the return of snowboarding from the original Final Fantasy VII. In the third part of the remakes, this element will not just be a separate mini-game, but a part of the narrative.
«I’m afraid I can’t go into details, but we understand that this will not just be a snowboarding mini-game. We want to integrate it into the plot to create a connection with the theme of the game».
The official release date for the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remakes has not yet been announced. According to Hamaguchi, the project is already in a playable state, but still requires additional refinement.
