Design Director Viktor Bochan stated in an interview that if the game seems too difficult and you don't want to train, then this is not your project. The game focuses on uncompromising realism: the main character, Henry, starts as an ordinary person — without magic or superpowers.
Bochan noted that part of the modern audience mistakenly expects the game to adapt to their convenience. In KCDII, the rule of reciprocity applies: to achieve something, you need to invest something.
Key principles:
- Training is the most important thing: Henry and the player learn to fight from scratch from sword masters.
- No shortcuts: button spamming leads to quick death, developing patience and strategy.
- Growth through difficulties: according to Bochan, the process of becoming someone from nobody is the heart of RPG.
Warhorse deliberately maintains a high level of difficulty, considering it a key feature of the game. Attempts to "smooth out" the gameplay for casual players would destroy the uniqueness of Kingdom Come.
