Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Abby, spoke about returning to the character and what viewers can expect in the show's continuation. In an interview with Deadline, the actress confirmed that she is starting to prepare for filming, and her participation in the new season will be significantly more prominent.
"I'm preparing myself mentally and physically right now. I'm heading out there in a couple of days to start getting ready. I'm very excited to get to play a much bigger part this season."
Given the previously announced information about the start of filming in the summer of 2026, this is likely the pre-production stage — reading scripts, working on the image, and physical training. This is indirectly confirmed by a video that appeared online earlier, in which the actress is engaged in strength training as part of her preparation for the role of Abby.
The third season will essentially be a mirror image of the previous one. The story of the conflict between Ellie and Abby will be told from a different point of view. For viewers unfamiliar with the original source, this turn may come as a surprise, while fans of The Last of Us Part II already have a rough idea of what to expect.
