Warhorse Studios Explained Why They Chose Bohemia for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Before Henry settled in Bohemia, Warhorse Studios seriously considered moving the series' events to other regions of Europe.
Medieval Germany and Robin Hood-era England were the priorities, which would have allowed preserving the 15th century. But the studio decided to stay in Bohemia, relying on strict standards of historical accuracy.
Design Director Viktor Bocan noted:
I believe that the most important part of the design is the feeling of complete immersion, and all systems are designed to support this. You can do anything with the world, and the world must react.
The game's systems should make the player really feel like they are in that era. Developing in unfamiliar countries would require research from scratch, which could reduce the quality of details.
The choice of Bohemia turned out to be strategic: the studio in Prague gained easy access to experts, universities, and its own historical roots. This allowed creating an RPG with a unique identity, standing out among major projects.
