An update with Photo Mode and balance adjustments has already been released for the game.
After the New Year break, Gearbox Entertainment has finally revealed an updated support roadmap for Borderlands 4. The first phase has already begun: the game received a major patch with Photo Mode and balance adjustments.
In February, Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon will be released, and in March players can expect the expansion Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. The February update is especially important, because it is the one that will introduce gear of a new Pearlescent rarity into the game. Even those who have not purchased the DLC will be able to obtain such items, although some loot, as usual, will remain exclusive to expansion owners.
The first story pack will also introduce a new Vault Hunter — C4SH. Along with it, Borderlands 4 will get a fresh story and a new location with several main and side quests, new weapons, and a whole set of cosmetic items.
In the second quarter of 2026, the developers plan to add a second raid boss, as well as extremely difficult challenges in which players will have to fight their way through a new area, fending off waves of enemies and battling new bosses.
The developers also plan to raise the maximum character level, add cross-platform saves, introduce shared progression (collectibles, fast travel points, Vault fragments, and other elements will unlock immediately for all future characters), as well as temporary free events.
