The new interpretation of Masamune Shirow's manga is being produced by Science SARU, the studio known for the anime "Dandadan."

Science SARU has released the first teaser for the new anime "Ghost in the Shell" and confirmed that the premiere will take place in July 2026. At the same time as the video, the first poster was also unveiled.

The director is Toma Kimura, also known by the pseudonym Moko-chan. He previously worked as an assistant director on the first season of "Dandadan," and the new "Ghost in the Shell" will be his full-fledged directorial debut. The script and series composition are handled by Tow Ubukata ("Godzilla: Singular Point"). Character design and the duties of chief animation director have been taken on by Shuhei Handa ("Scott Pilgrim Takes Off").

The music for the series is being composed by Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka. At the same time, Iwasaki also serves as the project's music director.

The original manga "Ghost in the Shell," created by Masamune Shirow, tells the story of Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetically enhanced agent operating in a world where the line between human and machine has almost been erased. According to the creators, the visual style of the new anime will be closer to Shirow's original work than to the franchise's previous animated adaptations.
