Arrowhead Game Studios' co-op shooter has become Sony's fifth most successful release of all time.
Analytics firm Alinea Analytics has published an estimate of Helldivers 2 sales across all platforms. According to its data, the game's total sales have exceeded 20 million copies. This makes the project one of the most successful releases published by Sony — behind only The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and God of War (2018).
The Xbox Series X|S version, which launched significantly later than the PlayStation 5 and PC release, showed a sharp slowdown in sales after the first week. According to analysts' estimates, around one million copies were sold on Microsoft consoles during the launch period — even more than the game's debut on PS5 (633 thousand).
However, the pace then dropped noticeably: according to the latest data, total sales on Xbox reached 1.6 million copies, while on PlayStation more than four million were sold over a comparable period, and the platform's overall result exceeded 5.6 million.
PC remains the key driver of Helldivers 2's success. According to Alinea Analytics, around 13 million copies were sold on Steam — more than half of the total sales.
Analysts emphasize the importance of simultaneous releases for live-service projects across all platforms and call Helldivers 2 a "hit of the generation," placing the game alongside Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring.
