A Comedic "Journey to the West": River City Saga: Journey to the West Announced

Arc System Works once again reimagines the classic Chinese epic.

Arc System Works has announced River City Saga: Journey to the West, a new installment in the series in which the heroes of the Kunio-kun beat 'em up will take on the roles of characters from the classic Chinese epic "Journey to the West".

The project will serve as a spiritual successor to River City Saga: Three Kingdoms and will once again lean into a comedic reinterpretation of well-known historical plots in the series' signature, deliberately unserious style.

So far, the developers have not released a trailer publicly: the game's existence became known during Taipei Game Show 2026.

River City Saga: Journey to the West is scheduled for release in 2026. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
