Sony has patented a system called "LLM-Based Generative Podcasts for Gamers," which uses generative AI for personalized podcasts.
Instead of standard PlayStation news notifications, they will be voiced by characters: Kratos from God of War, Ellie from The Last of Us, or Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. The AI analyzes the player's progress and creates unique episodes.
The system goes beyond ordinary news: in the podcasts, heroes can comment on achievements and even joke about failures. The podcasts will be integrated with the console interface and supplemented with trailers, screenshots, and visualizations in which the characters are "sitting at radio desks".
The system's key features include full content personalization based on the games on the account, the use of iconic voices with the characteristic intonation of favorite characters, integration of videos and trailers into the dashboard, as well as interactive commentary and jokes from characters about the player's style. At the same time, ethical questions remain: how does Sony plan to compensate the actors whose voices will be used endlessly without their participation?
