Nintendo is reviving Virtual Boy, one of the company's most unsuccessful consoles. During the Direct 2025 presentation, it was said that new accessories would be required for Virtual Boy games via NSO at launch on February 17, 2026.
However, as Nintendo Treehouse staffer Kori Olksvari reported, Labo VR owners will be able to use it for Virtual Boy games. Those who did not manage to buy the $99.99 virtual version or the $24.99 cardboard version can simply use Labo.
Labo compatibility with Virtual Boy is no secret; Nintendo simply does not advertise it, since the cardboard kit is no longer available.
Although the trailer announcing Virtual Boy explicitly stated that new accessories were required, it has now become clear that Labo is suitable. The only limitation is that the old Labo works only with the original Switch, while the Virtual Boy accessories are also compatible with Switch 2.
