Reportedly, the game sold more copies than Ghost of Tsushima did in its time.
According to Sony CFO Lin Tao, Ghost of Yotei significantly outperformed Ghost of Tsushima over a comparable period after release and made a substantial contribution to the financial results of the last quarter.
Ghost of Yotei was released on October 2 exclusively for PlayStation 5. By November 2 — 32 days later — the game's sales had reached 3.3 million copies. Sony did not disclose updated sales data as of the end of December, but during the quarterly results presentation it specifically highlighted the project as one of the key revenue drivers.
For comparison: Ghost of Tsushima, which debuted on PS4 in July 2020, sold 2.4 million copies in its first three days, and only reached the 5 million mark after 118 days (nearly four months). The original game's total sales, including the Director’s Cut re-releases for PS5 and PC, had reached 13 million copies by August 2024.
