Toei Animation has announced the premiere date of the One Piece Heroines spin-off. The first special episode will be released on July 5 and will consist of a single episode.
The episode will adapt the story episode: NAMI from the novel ONE PIECE novel HEROINES. In the story, Nami finds herself at a fashion show. A shoe designer agrees to remake a pair that did not satisfy her, but in return demands her participation in the runway show. The anime will also feature original scenes absent from the novel, including episodes with Nico Robin.
Haruka Kamitani ("Doremi: Looking for Magic"), who previously worked on individual One Piece episodes, has been appointed director of the special. Character design is handled by Takashi Kojima ("Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation"), and the screenplay was written by Momoka Toyoda ("My Happy Marriage").
The original novels were first published in One Piece Magazine in 2019, and later released as standalone volumes under the JUMP j BOOKS label — the first in June 2021, the second in March 2024. Each story is a self-contained tale dedicated to one of the heroines: from Nico Robin's archaeological research to Perona's battle for the last bottle of wine.
There is still no word on when the other specials based on the remaining stories will be released.
