Caves of Qud is an unassuming hit at first glance, capable of captivating for dozens of hours thanks to the insane number of mechanics and playthrough options. The game was released on PC in 2024 and showed excellent results: 91% on Metacritic and "extremely positive" reviews on Steam — 95% across all reviews and 98% on recent ones.
The project was developed over 17 years. Now, after its success on PC, the developers decided to seize the moment — on February 16, Caves of Qud will be released on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
This is a project in the spirit of retrofuturism: thinking plants, strange factions, millennia-old civilizations, and a world on the verge of destruction and rebirth. A key feature is deep simulation, thanks to which each journey turns into a unique story, sometimes heroic, and sometimes completely absurd.
The world here really "works": obstacles can be destroyed, melted, bypassed, or corroded, and creatures and NPCs are fully simulated — with levels, skills, equipment, factions, and even body parts. All of this is complemented by a powerful system of more than 70 factions, where not only battles are important, but also relationships with consequences.
It's a pity, but there is no Russian language support in the game.
