A new animated version of "Ghost in the Shell" will be released in Russia simultaneously with the Japanese release in July 2026. The rights to show it were acquired by DEEP, and the release will take place on Kinopoisk.
The production is handled by Science SARU studio, which previously released "Dandadan" and "Inu-Oh: Birth of a Legend."
The project is directed by Toma Kimura, known under the pseudonym Moko-chan. This is his full-fledged directorial debut: previously he worked as an assistant director on "Dandadan."
The script and composition are supervised by To Enjo ("Godzilla: Singular Point"), and Shuhei Handa ("Little Witch Academia", "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off") is responsible for character design and animation direction. The music is written by Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi and Yuki Kanesaka.
The authors state that visually the new version will be closer to the original manga by Masamune Shirow than previous adaptations. Earlier, the studio presented the first teaser and poster of the series.
