Tactical Adventures has announced an expanded Ready Action mechanic. Unlike Larian, who almost abandoned this system, in Solasta 2 it will become the basis of tactics, allowing you to predefine actions that trigger outside the player's turn.
In the sequel, the system will become deeper: you can prepare almost any ability. For example, a healing spell will trigger when an ally runs past the mage, and an attack spell will trigger when an enemy emerges from cover. The developers emphasize that managing the system will be "very simple and intuitive," with a clear radius of effect and automatic triggers.
The authors note:
We wanted to bring the freedom of a tabletop session to the game, while keeping it simple. The action is activated when the target enters the radius of the prepared action — whether it's an enemy or an ally.
This approach makes Solasta 2 an alternative for players who felt that Baldur’s Gate 3 lacked precise turn planning. Lively characters, interesting locations, and a captivating storyline are also promised.
