Recently, a PC Gamer journalist spoke with the senior game designer at KING Art, which is working on Dawn of War IV, and mentioned Total War: Warhammer 40,000.

Elliot Verbiest explained that the studio isn't worried about the new Total War — the developers believe that the audience for these two games is different:

I have a couple of friends who worked on this project at Creative Assembly. So it was really great to get in touch with them and congratulate them on the announcement. I saw some comments online like "This doesn't make sense, won't they be competing for the same audience?" But, in my opinion, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Yes, both games are real-time strategies, but these two RTSs are very different in type.

Elliot explained that Dawn of War IV and Total War: Warhammer 40,000 are two different games with their own features:

It's the same as Dawn of War is not StarCraft, and StarCraft is not Total War, and so on [...] I'm incredibly happy for Creative Assembly that they have such a project now. It's a great time to be a Warhammer fan.
