One of the developers of Mewgenics, Tyler Glaiel, recently spoke about a moment they encountered during the creation of the tutorial:
Fun fact about the tutorial segment in Mewgenics. In the first version of the tutorial, the Boulder Drop ability of the character Pebble dealt 50 units of damage. Usually, there was a very strong negative reaction to this, like: "this is unfair!".
In the end, a solution was found — the damage was increased tenfold. When the value was changed to "999", the problem disappeared completely.
Now this solution seems "obvious" to Tyler, but during the creation of Mewgenics, everything was different. The developers experimented for a while and tried to "find a smaller number that would still guarantee death" before they realized what was going on.
After a radical increase in the damage indicator, the testers immediately realized that this was not a balance error or a bug, but a "staged death".
