Capcom decided to add some humor to the advertising campaign for the horror game Resident Evil Requiem.
In a fictional legal collision from the Resident Evil universe, the Umbrella Corporation has filed a lawsuit against Nissin Foods Co., Ltd., accusing the instant noodle maker of infringing on intellectual property rights.
The reason for the proceedings was the "striking similarities" between the Cup Noodles brand and the fictional Umbrella Noodles product. The mock document, dated February 24, 2026, states that the lawsuit was filed in the Raccoon City High Court, with the Umbrella Corporation as the plaintiff and Nissin Foods as the defendant. The corporation claims that Cup Noodles "substantially infringes" its rights to Umbrella Noodles.
The Easter egg with Umbrella Noodles has appeared in the series more than once. The item was first spotted in the game Resident Evil Outbreak (2003/2004), and then returned in Resident Evil 3, where Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira came across noodle advertisements in different parts of the city.
