Highguard from Wildlight Entertainment is experiencing a decline - the peak number of players in Steam over the past day was just over 500, although it previously reached almost 98,000.

3 on 3 is always the most "tryhard" version of any mode, be it a battle royale or an objective-based mode – anything. It requires a high intensity of team communication and teamwork, leaving little room for casual play. I think that's what turned many players off of Highguard the most.

According to Garner, the complexity of the gameplay and the high demands on movement and shooting exacerbated the situation. Highguard has many rules and stages: loot, capture objectives, overtime. It works at a high level, but it's difficult for beginners.

Wildlight continues to release content as planned, including a new mode without a resource gathering phase, but retaining players is becoming increasingly difficult.
