Karl Urban, known for his role as Billy Butcher in "The Boys", has once again expressed his desire to return to the role of Judge Dredd.
In an interview with The Discourse podcast, Karl Urban admitted that he would "gladly return to the role" of Judge Dredd, whom he played in the 2012 film of the same name. However, the actor noted that he would even be satisfied with a version in which he would not participate in the new film:
"I just want to see more Dredd stories."
Rumors of a new Judge Dredd film began circulating in July 2025, when The Hollywood Reporter reported that director Taika Waititi ("Thor: Love and Thunder") would head a new project based on the comic book.
The producers include franchise owners Chris Kingsley, Jason Kingsley and Ben Smith from Rebellion Developments, Roy Lee from Vertigo Entertainment, Jeremy Platt and Natalie Viscuso. Drew Pearce ("Iron Man 3") is responsible for the script, but the details of the plot, casting and expected release date have not yet been disclosed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film will rely more on comics than on previous film adaptations, while it will "reflect modern culture."
