The producer of "Pirates of the Caribbean," Jerry Bruckheimer, confirmed that Johnny Depp may return to the role of Jack Sparrow in the next film of the franchise, if it were up to him.

In an interview with The Direct at the Producers Guild Awards ceremony, he was asked about rumors that Depp would not be in the next pirates film and that another actor would play the lead role.

"First of all, that's not true. No, no, no. If it were up to me, Johnny would be in this film."

Earlier, in an interview with ET, Bruckheimer effectively denied rumors that the main character of the future film would be Jack Sparrow's son. At the same time, he hinted that Margot Robbie's participation in the project is quite possible. Depp's return, apparently, will depend on whether the actor himself wants to come back. In a 2023 interview, Depp said that "anything is possible", so the door remains open for his return.

When the new film will be released remains unknown for now. Bruckheimer noted that the release will most likely take place later than planned, and viewers may possibly see "Top Gun 3" before the sixth part of the saga is released.
