Songyee Yoon acknowledges the existence of an AI bubble and believes that companies are inflating it with their grand promises.
In a new interview, former NCSoft President Songyee Yoon discussed her philosophy on the use of AI and how artificial intelligence has become an integral part of game development at NCSoft.
According to her, it is impossible today to consider video game development separately from AI technologies. She emphasized that the industry is entering a new phase where companies initially built around artificial intelligence will define the market in the coming years.
At NCSoft, AI was used everywhere: for predicting marketing trends, monetization, packaging virtual goods, generating character dialogues, adaptive interactions, animation, music, etc.
Yoon acknowledges the existence of an AI bubble and believes that it is being inflated by the large gap between supply and demand, as well as the grand promises of companies.
Regarding the gaming industry, Yoon supports the use of AI as tools to help developers unlock their potential, but believes that companies should immediately warn players that artificial intelligence was involved in the work on their projects.
