Intel is preparing for a massive price increase for processors amid growing pressure from the corporate segment and a rapid increase in demand associated with the development of artificial intelligence.

According to ETNews, the manufacturer plans to start with a moderate increase of about 10%, which will affect most of the processor line. This decision is due to the difficulties in balancing between the needs of the consumer market and corporate clients.

In recent months, the processor industry has been in the spotlight due to the transition of AI to the inference stage — calculations where the role of central processors increases significantly. This has led to a sharp increase in demand for x86 architecture solutions, including products from Intel and AMD. As a result, companies are faced with the need to redistribute production capacity, often in favor of the more profitable corporate segment.

There is particularly high interest in Intel server processors, such as the 4th Gen Xeon, which are actively purchased by large cloud providers. This forces the company to redirect resources from consumer products, exacerbating the shortage in the PC market.

The situation is complicated by other factors: the market is already experiencing a shortage of video cards and RAM (DRAM), and the increase in the cost of components (BOM) makes assembling affordable gaming PCs less and less realistic. Analysts note that with the current dynamics, it will be extremely difficult to maintain the same prices for computers.

If the forecasts are confirmed, gamers and ordinary users will have to face a noticeable increase in the cost of builds, and affordable configurations may become rare in the market in the near future.
