Despite the success of the new game from Capcom, the total amount of consumer spending on video games remained at the level of last year. A key role in maintaining the indicators was played by subscription services — such as Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus and Nintendo Switch Online. Spending on them increased by 27% compared to February 2025 (including due to price increases), which compensated for a possible market decline.
Resident Evil Requiem not only took first place in February, but is already being considered as one of the potential bestsellers of 2026 in the United States. At the start, sales of the game were 60% higher than Resident Evil Village, and the total circulation exceeded 6 million copies. At the same time, experts believe that it will be difficult for the project to maintain leadership until the end of the year, although it will probably remain in the top 20 best-selling games.
