The changes will affect not only the console itself, but also the Joy-Con controllers.

Nintendo is preparing to launch an updated version of the Switch 2 console in Europe, the key feature of which will be the ability to independently replace the battery. This step is due to the need to comply with new EU requirements, including the "right to repair" directive and the battery regulation, according to which, by 2027, consumer electronics with batteries must allow them to be replaced without contacting a service center.

According to available information, the changes will affect not only the console itself, but also the Joy-Con controllers. Users will be able to safely remove and replace worn or faulty batteries on their own, without sending devices for repair or buying new ones. The exact release date of the updated model has not yet been disclosed.

At the same time, sources note that similar changes may appear in other markets as well — for example, in the USA and Japan — but only if local legislation in the field of consumer protection is tightened.
