Davey Wreden's team was unable to find funding for their next project.
Ivy Road studio has announced its closure — the team will cease operations on March 31, 2026. The developers explained the decision by stating that they were unable to secure funding for their next project, Engine Angel, despite having a completed concept.
Ivy Road was founded by The Stanley Parable creator Davey Wreden. The studio released its debut game, Wanderstop, in March 2025. The cozy tea shop simulator received a warm reception and over 90% positive reviews on Steam, but this was not enough to earn funds for creating a new game — Wanderstop's peak online presence on Steam was 1317 players.
At the same time, the authors emphasized that work on Wanderstop is not ending there. The studio is preparing a "final surprise" that it has been working on for about a year. It should help the game attract a new audience.
Details will be revealed later by the publisher Annapurna Interactive, which will also support the project after the studio closes. Wanderstop will remain available for purchase on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Wanderstop and our team in any way. Making games is an incredibly difficult job: it requires technical skills, emotional commitment, financial investment, a huge number of hours of work, and a bit of luck. We are proud that we were able to create this project together — and that hundreds of thousands of players have become acquainted with it. We hope that one day you too will be inspired and create something of your own — whether it's art, music, lyrics, or even your own video game. Please remember to take care of yourself: drink tea, relax, and find time to pet the fluffies.
