Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 translator and editor Max H. stated that Warhorse Studios fired him without prior notice, replacing his work with AI.
"Yesterday, March 27, 2026, without any warning, I was invited to a meeting and immediately informed that in order to "improve company efficiency" and "save money," my position would become "obsolete" from next month, and all translations would be done using AI."
The employee had been working at the studio since July 2022 and was involved in the English localization of the project — from dialogues and quests to item descriptions and marketing materials. A moderator of the r/kingdomcom subreddit, where the publication appeared, verified the employee and confirmed that he had indeed worked at Warhorse for three years and nine months.
In his address, Max H. emphasized that he perceived the dismissal as a personal betrayal. He noted that he is not going to violate the NDA, but intends to speak openly about what is happening and about the impact of AI on the industry.
"This came as a huge shock to me. Although there had been quite a few talks about using AI for translation, and I was always against it, I didn't think it could actually cost me my job. Of course, the thought crossed my mind, but I naively believed that my work at the studio was valued enough that I wouldn't be at risk anytime soon. I feel incredibly betrayed by the company's management, to which I have become very attached over almost four years, and it is hard for me to realize that I will no longer see friends and colleagues in the office every day."
The publication quickly gained popularity on Reddit, and a wave of criticism against the studio began in the comments. Players point out that localization was one of the strengths of Kingdom Come, and doubt that automatic translations will be able to maintain the same elaboration of texts.
