Thief will no longer be able to fly around the map.
Bungie has released a new update for its shooter Marathon, which takes an important step towards the long-term balance of the game. The patch not only fixes bugs, but also demonstrates the developers' strategy for the future.
One of the key changes was the elimination of a popular movement bug. This refers to a technique that allowed players to maintain momentum while using the Thief's grappling hook. Despite its popularity among experienced players, the developers recognized it as harmful to the gameplay.
In the patch notes, Bungie explained their decision: according to their philosophy, fast movement and aggressive play should always come at a tangible cost - whether it's ability consumption, overheating, or increased risk. The developers also made it clear that they will continue to eliminate such exploits in the future.
In addition, changes have been made to the Outpost map. The entrance through the destroyed wing has been reopened in the central zone, which was previously closed due to balance issues - players could get inside too easily and quickly. Now, according to Bungie, a solution has been found and access has been restored.
