The appearance of cameos in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," including Fox McCloud from Star Fox, does not mean that Nintendo is preparing a film based on Super Smash Bros. or is moving towards uniting its heroes in one project.
This was stated by Shigeru Miyamoto in an interview with Polygon, emphasizing that the company is focused on individual stories. According to him, a scenario in which all Nintendo characters gather in one film is unlikely. At the same time, his long-standing rule remains in force: Pikmin can appear in any project, and cameos of other heroes are used selectively — to "add a little zest."
Illumination head Chris Meledandri confirmed this approach. According to him, the studio is not building a long-term strategy with franchise planning for years to come, as Marvel Studios does with its cinematic universe and films like "The Avengers." Instead, decisions are made in the process — based on what best suits a particular scene.
The premiere of the film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" took place on April 1. In Russian cinemas, the film will appear on April 11.
