The next-generation portable console from Sony may turn out to be significantly more powerful than expected. According to well-known insider KeplerL2, the future system, codenamed Project Canis, is capable of surpassing the Xbox Series S in both traditional rendering and ray tracing.
According to the leak, the device's graphics subsystem "slightly outperforms" the Xbox Series S in rasterization and "significantly outperforms" it in ray tracing capabilities. This makes Sony's portable console potentially one of the most powerful in its class.
The published specifications are as follows:

- 2 energy-efficient Zen 6 LP cores
- 16 RDNA 5 compute units
- 24 GB of LPDDR5X memory (192-bit bus)
- 135 mm² chip manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process
Special attention is paid to image quality. According to the insider, the new version of Sony's proprietary upscaler — PSSR 3 — will provide higher image quality than competitors' solutions, including the Nintendo Switch 2 with its DLSS "Light" technology from NVIDIA.
