The fifth season of "The Boys" is completely ready for release. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that work on the final episode is complete, including color correction and visual effects. The series is no longer in production.
Kripke announced this on social media and admitted that he only now realized that the story had come to an end. He called "The Boys" the best professional experience in his career and thanked the crew, actors, and viewers.
A couple of hours ago, we made the final color correction edits to the last VFX shots of the last episode of "The Boys". Now everything is completely, one hundred percent finished. The project is no longer in our hands — it's going to you. It's funny, but until this moment, it didn't really dawn on me that it was all over. I didn't feel any emotions when others around me were already saying goodbye to the series, because there was always some work left to do. Until this morning. I left the set with a lump in my throat. It was the best professional experience of my life. I'm sad that it's over, and I'm glad that it happened at all. Huge love and gratitude to the actors, crew, and fans who loved this series as much as I did. I hope you enjoy the finale. April 8.
The final season starts on April 8 on Prime Video. The plot will continue the events of the fourth season, in which Homelander effectively established control over the United States. The story will focus on the resistance to this regime and Butcher's personal war against Homelander. The final episode will be released on May 20.
