The new animated project based on "Star Wars" will start next week, but its future has already been determined.
Disney+ and Lucasfilm have renewed the animated series "Star Wars: Darth Maul - Lord of Shadows" for a second season even before the premiere. The first season starts on April 6 with two episodes, and the studio is already making it clear that it is counting on a continuation of the story.
The events unfold a year after the end of "The Clone Wars". Having survived defeat and loss of influence, Darth Maul returns, gathers strength and tries to restore his criminal syndicate. At the same time, he takes Devon Izara, a Twi'lek girl sensitive to the Force, as his apprentice.
Sam Witwer returned to the role of Maul. He was not limited to voice acting and took part in the work on the project. According to Lucasfilm Animation Vice President Athena Portillo, the actor helped finalize the script and made sure to reveal the character's character more deeply. The cast also includes Wagner Moura, Richard Ayoade and Dennis Haysbert.
Episodes will be released two per week. There are 10 episodes in the season, the finale is scheduled for May 4.
