The new Lucasfilm animated project reveals Maul's path after "The Clone Wars."
The animated series "Star Wars. Darth Maul: Lord of Shadows" premiered on Disney+. The project started with two episodes and focuses on the events after the finale of "The Clone Wars", when Maul tries to build his own criminal empire from scratch and faces a disillusioned Padawan, whom he expects to use for his own purposes.
The creator of the project, Dave Filoni, emphasized that the series should close the time gap between "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", "Han Solo: A Star Wars Story" and "Star Wars: Rebels."
The main role was once again voiced by Sam Witwer, who previously worked on the character in animated projects. The cast also includes Wagner Moura, Gideon Adlon, Richard Ayoade and Dennis Haysbert.
The project's rating has not yet been formed, but the first viewers note the expressive visual side, the dark tone and the more adult narrative, showing the criminal seamy side of the galaxy.
New episodes will be released two per week. The season finale is scheduled for May 4 - a landmark date for the Star Wars franchise.
