In March, the full text of the script for the new Resident Evil by Zach Cregger briefly appeared online, after which it began to be promptly deleted. However, some users managed to familiarize themselves with the material. Retellings quickly spread and caused controversy due to the strange tone and abundance of absurd scenes.
The situation became clearer after test screenings. According to media reports, the film focuses on a high pace and almost completely abandons exposition, building the narrative as a chain of tense episodes. Some sources compare it to George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" and note that the film feels like playing through a game, and the main character is perceived as the player's avatar.
Now insider MyTimeToShineHello has confirmed key plot details. His description almost completely coincides with the March leak, which indirectly indicates the absence of serious changes in the script:
«In general terms, it's a story about a guy who is sent to deliver a bag that he thinks contains organs. Along the way, he gets stuck in the ice, hits a zombie woman, is stopped by the police, chased by a dog, then chased by zombies that look like alien-zombies. He meets Paul Walter Hauser's character working for Umbrella, after which he needs to get to Raccoon City and deliver the medicine to the 28th floor of the main building».
The premiere of the new Resident Evil adaptation is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
