Warner Bros. has opened ticket sales for "Mortal Kombat 2" and simultaneously presented a new trailer, packed with brutal action and references. Among them are a cameo by Ed Boon, one of the creators of the Mortal Kombat series, as well as the return of the iconic track Techno Syndrome, which has long become the anthem of the franchise.
According to director Simon McQuoid, this time the film will fully focus on the tournament that viewers were waiting for back in the 2021 adaptation: the champions of Earthrealm, joined by Johnny Cage, will fight Shao Kahn and his fighters to stop him and save the world.
Lewis Tan (Cole Young), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), and Hiroyuki Sanada (Scorpion), among others, have returned to their roles. Newcomers include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, as well as Adeline Rudolph (Kitana), Tati Gabrielle (Jade), and Damon Herriman (Quan Chi).
The world premiere of "Mortal Kombat 2" will take place on May 6, 2026.
