Jack Black, who voices Bowser in the Super Mario film franchise, has virtually hinted at the release date of the third film. In an interview with Cinemex, the actor said: "Don't be surprised if the next installment comes out in 2029."
At the same time, neither Nintendo nor Universal Pictures have yet confirmed plans to produce a threequel. Nevertheless, against the backdrop of the success of "Super Mario: Galactic Movie," which is confidently following in the footsteps of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" with their $1.36 billion, a sequel looks quite logical.
The 2029 benchmark itself also does not seem accidental. The first film was released in 2023, and about three years passed between it and the sequel, despite a pause in production due to the strike by the Writers Guild of America.
