Companies are focused on profit at the expense of creativity, says Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.

Former director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and head of development for the upcoming The Blood of Dawnwalker, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has criticized the current state of the gaming industry, noting companies' excessive focus on profit at the expense of creativity.

In an interview with The Game Business, the developer stated that many studios today think first and foremost about money, not about the quality and artistic value of projects. According to him, such a "cold approach" prevents the creation of true works of art.

Tomaszkiewicz emphasized that when creating a new studio, it was more important for him to form a team in which developers could "grow together" and work on something unique, rather than repeat what has already been done for the sake of commercial success. He believes that the industry needs bold experiments and development, not copying successful formulas.

As examples of a fresh approach, Tomaszkiewicz cited projects such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Crimson Desert, which, in his opinion, offer an original experience, rather than copying other large games.
