DragonSword has been written about since 2023, and now the developers are getting closer to release.

DragonSword: Awakening will be released in July 2026. The game's style resembled gacha-monetized projects like Genshin Impact, but the developers stated that this is not the case. Studio Hound13 announced in the FAQ on Steam that the game will not be free-to-play and does not contain gacha elements. Users will pay once and get access to all content and characters.

This is not an MMO. The description states that it is a "single-player RPG with an emphasis on story and open-world exploration," but in fact we are talking about a cooperative game. The game will feature cooperative battles for two people and raids for three players.

The project was originally created as free-to-play, so the question of balance remains after the model change.

The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and will be released in July 2026 on PC in Steam, but a release on consoles is not excluded in the future.

The developers have also abandoned season passes and subscriptions, but plan to release DLC.
