No Man's Sky on portable devices is a serious challenge. All because of one thing

The developers of No Man's Sky have admitted that developing the game on devices like the Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam Deck has been more difficult than expected.

The main problem is memory limitations, which directly slow down the release of updates.

The Hello Games team reported that preparing updates for such platforms takes 2-3 times longer than for other devices. The reason is strict RAM limitations.

The developers noted that in such conditions, you have to carefully optimize every element of the game: not only graphics, but also world systems, physics, and data loading. In practice, this means constantly trying to "fit" content into limited resources.

The most serious limitation remains the amount of RAM, which is noticeably less on portable devices than on PCs and stationary consoles. Because of this, updates require additional work - often you have to rework ready-made solutions, and not just add new content.

The authors call these restrictions almost "impossible" without compromises. Some ideas are simplified or completely cut out to ensure stable operation.
