The fastest-selling console title in South Korean history.
Pearl Abyss previously announced that Crimson Desert had surpassed 5 million copies sold. The project reached this result in just 26 days from release, setting a record as the fastest-selling console title in South Korean history.
The developers were publicly congratulated on their success by South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok. In his address of April 24, he called the achievement "a major milestone" that demonstrates the potential of the Korean gaming industry to expand across various platforms, including consoles. According to him, the game's success also strengthens the country's position on the global stage.
The Prime Minister separately noted the project's high technological level — from fully in-house development to graphics close to photorealism — as well as the organic inclusion of elements of Korean culture, such as taekwondo and national cuisine.
Min Seok also noted that the authorities would provide active support.
The government will also take responsibility and provide active support. We will create an environment in which Korean games can take their rightful place among Korean content.
