Xbox Changes Strategy: Exclusives Questioned, Game Pass Prioritized

Xbox is entering a new phase under the leadership of Asha Sharma and Matt Booty. In an interview, they outlined the platform's development direction and announced possible changes in the approach to game exclusivity.

The new leadership emphasizes that Xbox should become “more open, accessible, and personal.” One of the priorities is strengthening Game Pass and stabilizing the current generation of consoles. The company also plans to streamline the release schedule and improve project quality.

One of the key topics remains the strategy for releasing games on other platforms, including PlayStation. Sharma notes that decisions on this matter have not yet been made and require analysis.

We will approach this based on data and strategy, and then make decisions in accordance with our principles […] We don't have a timeline yet. I want to make the right decision, not the fastest one.

Microsoft's plans also include the development of the next-generation device Project Helix and improving the user experience on current consoles.

The company also acknowledges challenges: declining hardware sales and increased market competition.
