Now players will be able to earn reputation separately in different regions and behave differently during their travels.

In the new installment of the Fable franchise, developers have abandoned some classic elements. Among those excluded is the morality system, which could directly reflect the consequences of a player's decisions — it changed the character's appearance. Depending on the player's actions, the hero could earn a halo or horns.

Now, the developers will offer players in Fable a system with regional reputation: the hero will arrive in a new region without any reputation, so no one will know what to think of them. Through their behavior, they will form a certain attitude towards themselves in that place.

Original game creator Peter Molyneux told IGN that abandoning the classic morality system is "a real disappointment." He doesn't know why such a decision was made, but he has a theory about it:

It's hard to implement because in the modern world with an incredibly high level of detail, everything becomes much harder to do. And if you also consider [the character's gender], the amount of work doubles [...] But I'm still curious to know if there will be any system of good and evil alignment. I hope it appears.

While Fable is currently expected to be released in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, some believe the game will still be postponed until next year.
