Iconic Warcraft III Now Available in Browser Thanks to Fan
Various enthusiasts continue to port old games to the browser.
In April 2026, a fan of the real-time strategy game Warcraft III announced the launch of a browser version of the game.
One member of the Warcraft III community explained that developer Erik Som cross-compiled Warsmash — a re-imagining of the Warcraft III engine based on LibGDX in Java — into JavaScript using the TeaVM tool. As a result, the strategy game can now run directly in the browser.
This version supports core game features: you can launch custom maps with bots and campaigns.
The browser version of Warcraft III runs on the Warsmash website. However, there is a technical nuance: for now, gamers need to have the game files on their computer to play.
