Xbox Series X Experiences Backward Compatibility Issues
One of Microsoft's consoles' most valuable features, running games from previous generations, is currently going through a difficult period.
Xbox Series X owners have been reporting difficulties launching Xbox 360 era games for weeks, and sometimes months.
Complaints have flooded social media and forums like Reddit. Players report Xbox Live connection errors that prevent license verification. This only applies to old games: the internet works fine, new projects launch without problems. For some, the entire Xbox 360 library doesn't work, for others only certain games.
The probable cause is technical and concerns new or recently configured consoles. Older systems require authorization in the network infrastructure from the seventh generation era.
New Series X consoles must reconnect to these "legacy" servers to verify game rights. It seems this process is currently failing, while consoles that passed verification earlier are working normally.
The official Xbox support account confirmed that engineers are already working on the problem and consider it a priority.
