Xbox Released a Major Firmware Update. Significant Console Improvements and ROG Xbox Ally
Microsoft has released an update for the Xbox ecosystem, concluding the month with a massive update. The company stated that it is increasingly taking player feedback into account.
Most of the changes were made to consoles. Now, up to 10 groups can be pinned to the home screen instead of the previous two, providing more flexibility in organizing games and applications. Full interface color customization has been added – users can choose any shade.
The Quick Resume feature has also been improved. It can now be disabled for individual games, which is useful for online projects. A new game history tab has appeared with quick access to recent launches.
Significant changes have affected cloud gaming. Before launching, users can manually select the resolution, and a new network indicator shows connection quality in real time.
On PC, players are now allowed to add any games to their Xbox library regardless of the store. The “Gamepad Cursor” feature has also been introduced, turning the gamepad into a mouse, and the ability to change the notification display location. The mobile app now sends notifications about discounts, Game Pass, and pre-orders.
The update also affected the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally portable devices. Dock mode has been improved, LE Audio support has been added, as well as PC features – game library and cursor control. Xbox Insiders are already testing Auto Super Resolution for image enhancement.
New dynamic themes have also been added, including Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, Overwatch, and Invincible VS, and a new Rewards promotion with prizes has been launched.
