Ubisoft Changed How the Hidden Blade Works in the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Remake

The Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced remake continues to spark debate among fans. Developers have confirmed that in the updated version, players will not be able to use the hidden blade as a standalone weapon – unlike in the original game.

According to them, Edward Kenway's primary weapons will be dual blades. The hidden blade will not disappear, but its role will change significantly: it will now be used exclusively for contextual finishing moves. It can be activated, for example, after breaking an enemy's guard, making it part of combo attacks.

The developers emphasize that this system should make the hidden blade a more significant element of combat, whereas in the original, it played a less prominent role in regular battles.

However, player reactions have been mixed. Many users expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, pointing out that limiting to essentially one main weapon could quickly become boring. Discussions include calls to reconsider the mechanics before release.
