The second season of "Star Wars: Darth Maul - Lord of Shadows" is already in development. This was announced by Sam Witwer, who voices Maul in the Lucasfilm animated series.
According to the actor, work on the sequel has been going on for "some time", so "viewers won't have to wait too long." Witwer noted that he knows the approximate release dates but cannot disclose them.
This statement shows that the studio was confident in "Lord of Shadows" even before its premiere. And so far, this calculation seems justified: after its launch on April 6, 2026, the project became one of Disney+'s most successful releases recently. The series held the top spot on the chart for several weeks and only recently dropped to second, yielding to "Covenants". Most likely, it will return to the top after the season finale on May 4.
Critics and viewers also warmly received the series. On Rotten Tomatoes, the project has 98% approval from critics and 90% from the audience.
