Actresses Tati Gabrielle and Adeline Rudolph, who play Jade and Kitana, said that in "Mortal Kombat 2", female roles will be expanded compared to the first part. According to them, director Simon McQuoid deliberately focused on the development of the heroines and their place in the story.
In the 2021 reboot, the only woman on the side of Earthrealm was Sonya Blade. Other heroines included Mileena and Nitara, but they were on the side of the villains and received little screen time. In the second part, Kitana, Jade, and Sindel will join the cast, balancing the characters.
"[McQuoid] introduces these female characters, showing that they really fit into this world. They are not alien to it. They are just as strong, but still vulnerable. Even in their vulnerability, they possess strength. I think Simon approached this with incredible care and supported it every step of the way."
The world premiere of "Mortal Kombat 2" is scheduled for May 8, 2026. In Russia, the film will most likely not be released even unofficially: representatives of Warner Bros. are sending warnings about copyright infringement in case of public screenings.
